Disney’s Boardwalk Inn is one of my favorite resorts on property, especially during the holidays. There is so much charm and quirkiness that it’s hard not to instantly fall in love with this truly unique resort.
While the gingerbread display is not as grand as Beach Club’s or the Grand Floridian, it still very much deserves a spot on your holiday resort tour. As we’ve mentioned in previous posts, you must either be staying at the Boardwalk or have a dining reservation to park here.
If you’re staying at Beach Club, Yacht Club, or Swan and Dolphin, you can just walk on over! The other workaround would be to stop by on your Epcot Day, or take the Skyliner on your Hollywood Studios day. Bus transportation is available from any park and Disney Springs as well.
But, the easiest way to save a little money and enjoy this beautiful resort is to stay here while booking with David’s DVC Rentals. You can browse their confirmed reservations here and see if any of the dates work for your vacation!
What to Wear
This is such a beautiful place to grab some holiday photos. There is a lot of natural light coming through, so if you’re wanting some pictures for Christmas cards or enjoy a little gingerbread cocktail hour, we’ve put together a fancy look for the occasion.
This look would also be perfect for grabbing a romantic dinner at Flying Fish or The Cake Bake Restaurant. We pulled in details of the Boardwalk Inn through its color scheme and iconic carousel, while adding details of the gingerbread house on display.
If you want direct links to any other items, you can check out our Patreon Page! This is where you get exclusive access to all blog looks and so much more. We have monthly Zoom calls and plan outfits for the parks and everyday life. It’s a lot of fun over there, so feel free to check us out!
Gingerbread Display
Of course, one of the main reasons to visit the Boardwalk during the holidays is the gingerbread display. Even though it’s a little smaller compared to the other resort displays, it does not lack in creativity or cuteness.
The theme of this display is the Boardwalk Deli, which by the way, used to be my favorite breakfast spot. RIP glazed donut. Anywho, the detail in this gingerbread house is absolute perfection. I cannot get over the teeny tiny cookies and treats in the window, as well as the baking and cooking ingredients in the trees!
Even though it’s not very big, I still spent so much time exploring the small details like the wreath on the side of the building. I ran into Lisa at Following the Magic (who was so kind!) and she informed me that the clock is a functioning cuckoo clock with Orange Bird! He chimes every hour, but sadly, we had to leave before he came out.
Treats & Drinks
We were happy to see that drinks and treats were offered at this location. There is a sign letting you know the treats and drinks that are available to purchase and what time you may visit. When we were there in November, you could start purchasing snacks at 2:00 until 9:30.
There was a variety of offerings, including some hot chocolate and adult beverages. The table was set up right across from the gingerbread display in the lobby, so it’s such a wonderful place to get a drink and sit in front of the fireplace. I can’t promise you that the nanny chairs won’t give you a little fright, but trust me, it’s worth it.
Decor
Once again, Disney really outdid themselves with the decor. There are actually a few trees: one outside and a couple inside. The resort is also decked out in garland with the resort’s turn-of-the-century Atlantic City theme.
You can find different carousel animals throughout the decor along with traditional nutcrackers. But, I also really love the colors of the trimmings, as they beautifully blend bright colors with reds and greens.
Hopefully, you’ll find a way to make a stop at this resort during your holiday vacation at Walt Disney World. If you happen to make it there, let us know what you think!
